Meet the 17-year-old high school girl, Verda Tetteh who just graduated from high school as the best graduating student of Fitchburg High School in Massachusetts, U.S. She also won a merit scholarship worth $40,000.
One interesting thing Verda did at her graduation ceremony was that she asked that the scholarship of $40,000 she won should be given to a student attending community college as she said that she was not the one who needed the scholarship the most.
In her words, she said “I am so grateful for this but I also know that I am not the one who needs this the most. And knowing my mom went to community college and how much that was helpful, I would be very grateful if administration would consider giving the general excellence scholarship to someone who’s going to community college.”
This brilliant girl graduated with an outstanding GPA of 4.9 and this qualified her for some other scholarship awards.
She plans on majoring in chemistry and following a pre-medical track at Harvard University.
Congratulations to Verda and greater heights to her!!
