75 Years old man bagged PHD- A Ghanaian by name George Ayisi-Boateng whose age 75 Years old has been reported to bagged his PHD Degree years after hanging his boat on Education as a sacrifice for his children to be educated.
Information we gathered says that while the now Dr. George was still a young man, he went through so many educational challenges due to the fact that his father died barely when he was in primary three (3) and he was single handedly raised by his mother who had 15 more children to take care.
As he grows day by day, Dr. George came to the realization that the only way he can escape from this challenges his to take the bull by the horns and as such, he started his personal struggles, working harder every day till he came to the limelight of success.
His earnest wish was to achieve a feat his father was unable to provide for him during his lifetime.
In the year 1994, George gets his first academic certificate. He obtained an Advanced Level (A-Level) certificate through private studies. By this time, he was already fathering grown up children.
The now Dr. George sacrifice his academic pursuit to make make sure to all his children gets the best education at early age by enrolling them in school early.
His first daughter had scaled through school and started teaching at St Louis Secondary School in Kumasi, while the second was at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
The third child who studies in Canada has finished the university level, while his fourth child was in the 5th year at the School of Medical Sciences (SMS) at KNUST. To complete his circle, the last born was in the nursing training school.
That means Dr. George had 6 children and he has successfully trained them all academically.
In 2005 when all his children have achieved various reputable levels of education, Dr George took a solid decision of furthering his education from the A-LEVEL Certificate he obtained 11 Years Ago and had a discussion with his family, alongside few friends, and that is how the journey started.
As at the time Dr. George took this decision in 2005, he was 60 years of age. He enrolled on evening part-time classes at the erstwhile Kumasi campus of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) now Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED) where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with honors at the age of 64.
In his quest to attain higher academical levels, he proceeded to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) for Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA). He obtain the MBA degree, but didn’t stop there.
He picked up the PHD from from University of Witwatersrand in South Africa and proceeded for his PHD degree. At the age of 75, he obtained his PhD Degree from the institution.
After obtaining all this degree, I believe Dr. George was now satisfied of himself academically and by the grace of God he was appointed as the High Commissioner of Ghana to South Africa in 2017, a position he held until 2021.
Wow! Dr. George story is indeed an inspiring one. Not just for his children or family, but to others not to give up on their dreams despite the huddles of life.
