88-Year-Old Grandfather Bags Bachelor’s Degree From US University Along With His Granddaughter

An 88-year-old man named Rene Neira has successfully bagged a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas-San Antonio in the United States after being out of school since the 1950s.

He graduated with a Bachelor’s of Arts (B.A) in Economics and this is a very special achievement as the granddaughter who graduated the same time has expressed.

Rene Neira’s 23-year-old granddaughter, Melanie Salazar described the achievement as a special one.

She went on to narrate that her grandfather always dreamt of earning a college degree but it wasn’t possible until he reached old age. She said that he has been out of school since the 1950s as he decided to quit school to focus on raising his family.

Melanie and her grandfather joined the University of Texas-San Antonio together and while her grandfather graduated with a Bachelor’s of Arts (B.A) in Economics, she graduated with a Bachelor’s of Arts (B.A) in Communications.

In a tweet, Melanie wrote “I’m so proud of my grandpa for finishing his first day at PAC this semester! 82 years old and not giving up.”

She pushed her grandfather in a wheelchair during graduation and she expressed that she almost cried out of joy when everyone applauded him.

Congratulations to Rene Neira and his granddaughter on their achievements!!
