- International, out-of-province, and first-time Alberta resident applicants must have a minimum of two years of domestic postsecondary studies in Canada or the United States
- Alberta residents who are graduates of an international high school may be eligible to apply for a scholarship
- Students who were not born in Canada or the US may be eligible to apply if they have completed two years of Canadian postsecondary education and achieved a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 in their final year at that institution
