Meet Rachael Modupeoluwa Ayankunbi, a Nigerian-American who has just won the US Fulbright Scholarship to pursue her Ph.D. after she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology with honours from Howard University in Washington DC.
Rachael Ayankunbi is a native of Maryland and enrolled at Howard University to study Biology major with Chemistry as a minor.
According to Howard University, she also looks to pursue an MD-Ph.D. to become a cardiothoracic surgeon while also carrying out research on lung cancer cells.
All through her undergraduate program, she pursued a passion for ancient Greek art and literature with a second minor in Classical Civilization. She holds an Associate of Arts degree from Prince George’s Community College in Maryland, United States.
Her exceptional undergraduate performance helped her to come out as one of the winners of the prestigious US Fulbright Scholarship which will allow her to study the role of epigenetic regulators in the development of bladder cancer at the Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens, Greece.
Rachael Ayankunbi won the scholarship along with two other graduates of Howard University.
