Brilliant Black Girl Set To Earn Masters Degree At University Of Oxford For Free As She Wins Rhodes Scholarship Twice

Meet Isatu Bokum an African girl from The Gambia who has become the first-ever Gambian to win the United Kingdom Rhodes Scholarship twice.

Isatu Bokum completed her Bachelor Degree in Journalism at the University of The Gambia and after which she won the Mandela Rhodes Scholarship that allowed her to earn an honours degree at the University of Cape Town, South Africa.

She went on with her studies and now she has won the prestigious United Kingdom’s Rhodes Trust Scholarship which will allow her earn a Master’s degree in Women’s Gender and Sexuality Studies at the University of Oxford.

Isatu Bokum also won another scholarship which makes her the first-ever Gambian to win two Rhodes Scholarship Awards. She expressed her joy on LinkedIn being given the opportunity to attend the prestigious University of Oxford in the United Kingdom.

In her words, she wrote “And just like that, your girl is in the big leagues. It is official, I’m an oxonian!! My heart is full of joy.”

The Rhodes Trust Scholarship at the University of Oxford is awarded to successful candidates and it grants them a full tuition wavier and a living stipend of £17,310 per year to earn their Master’s degree.
