Deakin University Scholarships for International Students has a variety of scholarships open for application this year.
Undergraduate Scholarships
- Deakin STEM Scholarship
The scholarships in the Deakin STEM Scholarships Scheme are designed to provide financial support for university study or participation in industry-related internships. The scholarships are awarded to students making an application through UCAS, either as part of a UCAS application for undergraduate study in full-time studying programs leading to a Bachelor’s degree or through UCAS’s academic exchange schemes.
The scholarships will be awarded based on applicants’ preferences and achievements over the past two years and in their current year of entry into higher education. The scholarship recipients chosen by Deakin University will be announced at the end of the admissions process with students able to start receiving their financial support, upon acceptance into higher education courses.
- Vietnam Partners Scholarship
This scholarship is being offered to students who wish to study overseas or in Australia. It offers students the chance to study at Deakin University, one of the top Australian universities. The scholarship is funded by Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training with a grant valued at AUD$62,788. This will cover full tuition fees and incidental costs.
The scholarship offers:
- A tertiary course worth three credits
- Accommodation includes 4 weekly accommodation days per semester, a 10% discount on residential accommodation in shared rooms (approximately $1,500), and weekends free unless otherwise specified.
- Deakin Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship
The scholarship is open to all undergraduate students who have had their offer for a place in a future undergraduate program at Deakin University confirmed and who meet the eligibility criteria set by Deakin University.
It covers the fees for a full-fee Commonwealth Supported place, provided by the Government of Australia, at Deakin University for the first year of their undergraduate degree.
Eligibility criteria:
- The student’s program must be selected in the year preceding the anticipated year of study.
- The scholarship commences with the first semester at Deakin University, not in January before commencement as it is considered a conditional offer scholarship.
Graduate Scholarships
- International Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship
This scholarship is available to students graduating in 2022 who have studied at Deakin University.
This scholarship is awarded based on academic achievement, the potential for excellence in research, as well as leadership potential.
The award is open to all undergraduate and postgraduate students from any nationality or region who can provide evidence of a genuine interest in entering an international career path with a university partner overseas.
Successful applicants will be considered for the award only once during their lifetime and must commit to studying at an institution where they will gain meaningful international experience during their course of study and will receive academic support from that institution… This scholarship allows recipients to continue their education in Australia while having access to opportunities overseas. - Deakin International Scholarship
The scholarship of $11,000 is open to Deakin graduates who are 18 or over by July 2021 and enrolled in an undergraduate program of study at any university outside of Australia.
The scholarship will be awarded based on academic merit and financial need. Applicants will complete a personal statement, two letters of recommendation, an essay question as well as information about their family background and parental education levels.
- Deakin Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship
The graduate scholarship is open to all qualified international students who have graduated from an Australian university in the previous 6 months. Selected applicants will receive a full tuition fee scholarship for their first year of study and the opportunity to access our global student exchange program which provides opportunities for study at Deakin in regional Victoria and throughout Australia, New Zealand, Asia, Europe, and North America.
The scholarship is open internationally to qualify graduates from any university, who have been studying at an Australian institution for less than six months when scholarships commence.
Facilities at Deakin University
The University offers students over 31 colleges and seven campuses dating from the early 1960s and several buildings that are of historical importance.
The university has a long-standing association with the Wotif Group and the Wotif Student Village, which was completed in 2011 and incorporates many facilities for students such as cafes, restaurants, shops, meeting rooms, and study areas.

- A copy of the page that displays your current Australian visa (if applicable)
- Birth certificate (English translation if not in English)
- Current driver’s license and/or a valid International Driving Permit for non-Australian citizens
- Proof of completion of full-time studies, where applicable, such as final exam results and transcripts from high school, university, or other tertiary institutions.
- Copies of birth certificates (both parents)
- Evidence that parent(s)/guardian has sufficient income to meet all costs associated with the child’s study at Deakin University including tuition fees and living expenses.
- Evidence that the applicant holds a health insurance policy to cover the duration of stay in Australia and evidence that the student has adequate funds available to support them during their period of study.
