First African Woman To Bag PhD In Computer Science From Cornell University, Now An Assistant Professor At The University Of California

In 2019, an African woman, an Ethiopian born mathematician and computer scientist identified as Prof Rediet Abebe breaks became the first woman to obtain a PhD in Computer Science from Cornell University.

Before now, Prof Rediet had obtained other degree from foremost citadels of learning including; Master of Science (MSc) in Applied Mathematics from Harvard University, a Master of Arts (MA) in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge, and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Mathematics from Harvard University.

In addition to here achievements, Prof Abebe is the co-founder of an organization which focuses on empowering people of color to pursue careers in artificial intelligence known as BLACKS IN AI.

She is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California and a 2022 Andrew Carnegie Fellow.
