- Tuition fee for International students at the Hosei University
While the cost of the Hosei International Students Program varies depending on whether you are enrolled in a General or Advanced program and whether you are enrolled in a full- or part-time course of study, it is generally estimated that tuition fees for international students in an Advanced program will range from 2.5 million yen to 3.5 million yen per year(USD 26,000 to $34,000), while tuition fees for International students in a General Program are estimated to range from 1 million yen to 1.5 million yen per year (USD 10,000 to USD 13,000).
The increasing demand for foreign students has led to some changes in the Hosei International Student Program. Currently, the application period is open twice a year (in June and December) whereas previously it was open only once and the admission process was handled separately by the Office of International Operations.
Hosei University Scholarships
The Hosei Scholarship is an international scholarship program offered to both undergraduate and graduate students and is open to students from all over the world. Applicants must have already been admitted as full-time students at one of Hosei University’s campuses in Tokyo, Chiba, or Yokohama.
Amount: USD3500/month or USD5500/month for full-time undergraduate and graduate students (plus round-trip airfare*).
While the scholarship will be paid in full, round-trip airfare is not included in the scholarship amount.
¤ The international applicants’ visa period will start after they have received the Hosei Scholarship award notification letter from their school. International students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible but must apply before October 1st (for undergraduates) or November 1st (for graduate students).
Undergraduate Scholarships at Hosei University
- Tuition Reduction System scholarship
This scholarship is one in a series of five scholarships that prepares students to enter the tuition reduction system. these five scholarships were put in place to reduce the cost of tuition, and they also provide financial support for books, housing, food, and health insurance. scholarship applicants are evaluated on their academic achievement year-round according to admissions records and test scores.
The selection process is objective so applications need not be submitted until after admission has been granted. priority is given to qualified applicants with lower academic records or test scores who have not been accepted into any other university but are still academically eligible under this merit-based system.
- HOSEI International Fund (HIF) International Student Scholarship
The scholarship is open to international students enrolled in Hosei University, who are not receiving scholarships from other organizations.
There are two types of scholarships: a regular scholarship and a “HIF Award” scholarship. A regular scholarship offers up to ¥200,000 per year (approx. US$1,700). A “HIF Award” scholarship is given on a discretionary basis and typically offers ¥300,000 every year (approx. US$2,600)
- New HOSEI University Centennial Scholarship for International Students
The scholarship is awarded to students in the fields of engineering, applied natural sciences, social and behavioral science as well as humanities who are currently enrolled or planning on enrolling at Hosei University. The scholarship provides a full tuition waiver for the current academic year. The scholarship provides a chance for students from different countries to communicate with each other and allows them to better understand their own cultures and people from other countries.
Graduate Scholarships
- Hosei University Centennial Graduate Scholarship for graduates
The scholarships will be awarded on October 11 at a ceremony in Tokyo. The winners are selected based on their academic performance while enrolled. One winner will be selected from the first-year class, four winners from the second-year class (including freshmen), three finalists from the third-year class (including freshmen), two finalists in graduate school, and one finalist in doctoral school (including freshman).
The students will each receive 1 million yen for their winning project with up to 30 million yen available for further research.
