How to check the National Identification Number NIMC number Using USSD Code on your phone MTN and all other information about NIN.
Now, it’ll be mandatory to have a NIN number in Nigeria before you access any legal services from the government and other service providers similar as banks and telecom companies. And for that reason, knowing your unique number puts you in a profitable position to profit from similar service.
Note, that this process only applies if the SIM card in the phone is the same used for enrollment. Because an amount of fee will charge which Twenty Naira from your airtime balance
So with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC)’s USSD service, you can now fluently check or recall your National Identity Number (NIN) on your mobile phone.
Then what is the National Identification Number (NIN)?
The National Identification Number (NIN) is a set of figures assigned to an individual upon successful registration. And registration consists of the recording of an existent’s demographic data and recording of the ten (10) fingerprints, head – shoulder facial picture and digital hand, which are all used to cross-check bio- datas in the National Identity Database to confirm that there’s no former entry of the same data.
And once this deduplication process is completed the data is also stored with a unique NIN that was assigned to it. And the NIN formerly issued to a person can not be used again, for instance, it can not be issued to another person indeed if the former person is dead. So it’s the NIN that helps to tie all records about a person in the database and is used to check the identity vindicated.
The how to check your NIN
So you can check NIN on MTN by
dialing *346#, also on the options displayed, just select NIN Retrieval by selecting 1, just follow another way needed to check your National Identification Number, NIN). And it will cause you N20 on your mobile phone network
The Guidelines for NIN
The National Identification Number (NIN) consists of 11 non-comprehensible figures aimlessly chosen and assigned to an existent at the completion of registration into the (National Identity Database) NIDB. And once a NIN is assigned to an individual, it can never be reassigned, given or used by another person – that makes it unique in nature.
So in the case of the demise of an individual, his/ her NIN is retired once a death instrument is presented to the Commission and the person’s death is established.
The NIN is used to tie all records about an individual in the database and is also used to establish or corroborate his/ her identity and all citizens and legal residents in Nigeria, from age zero ( birth) and over are eligible to enrol for their NINs.
The NIN should be nearly guarded by individualities and not revealed to all and sundry except to applicable authorities when requested (for case it should n’t be posted online over social media and as well shouldn’t be published along with contact details on business cards or other office stationery).
The Eligibility For NIN
It’s obligatory for every citizen and legal occupant to enrol for the National Identification Number (NIN). And the process is the same whether you choose the self service or you bear an assisted service.
The minors aren’t issued with the National Identity cards until they attain the age of 16. So no enrolling of minors that’s below the age 16
Your collection of the NIN
At the completion of the registration process, aspirant will be issued two (2) slips:
- A Sale Slip
- A NIN Slip indicating completion of registration.
And aspirants should collect their NINs at the registration centres where they enrolled, but in certain circumstances they can request the NINs be transferred to other centres of their choice.
But the NIN can only be collected by an individual after biometric verification and not by another person.
The how to Link this NIN to MTN
You can use any of the three ways below to link your NIN to your MTN number.
- a. By dialing the USSD code *785#
- b. Through the Official website
- c. By using the myMTNApp which can be downloaded on Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
So you have to enter your details in the NIN Linking form similar to your name, phone number, NIN and dispatch address. And then submit the form once you are done through with inputting the details and the MTN will give you a feedback
And in any case where you are not suitable to link your NIN through the above means, also you should walk over to the nearest office of your service provider to do the process. And ensure you go on with your NIN And SIM pack.
And again, It’s important to do the linking so that you don’t threaten getting disconnected from your network provider.
