How To link NIN To MTN

The National Identification Number (NIN) is the unique number which identifies you as a Nigerian and is issued to you upon registration by NIMC (The National Identity Management Commission). And it’s used to match your biometric data and other details in the National Identity Database during verification and authentication.

So what’s the significance of this number?

The NIN is used to tie all records about an existent into the National Identity Database and is also used as a valid means of establishing or vindicating individual identity.

So how do I register for NIN?

You can register at the nearest MTN enrolment centre  or any NIMC enrolment center .

So how do I confirm my NIN number?

You can check your NIN Slip, it has your 11 Number Number at the top left corner, on the alternate row. And you can also dial *346# and press 1 to recoup your NIN.

So what are the conditions for registration?

Only your Government issued ID card and BVN is needed if you have one.

So what if I don’t have a Government issued ID card?

 

You can give the following:

  • A Certificate of origin
  • The Attestation Letter from a prominent sovereign in your community
  • The Birth instrument or protestation of Age
  • The Documentation from a religious/ traditional sovereign
  • The NHIS card
  • The Government Staff ID card
  • The Duty concurrence instrument

I understand that the Civil government has extended the deadline for NIN registration and update?

Kindly check the NIMC website for further information on the new deadline.

And since i have registered my SIM with a National ID card and my NIN is on the public ID. Do I still need to link my number?

 

Of course,  you have to link your National Identification Number with your mobile phone number. So please dial *785* Your 11 number NIN#  from the phone number you wish to link. And you can also download MyMTN App and follow the NIN banner to submit your NIN details in the app. And please kindly note that the NIN you submit to us is subject to further verification by NIMC. And you will be charged for checking my enrollment status on *346#? …..Yes, You’ll be charged N20.

So i got an error when I telephoned and the *346#, does it work on all networks?

Yes, the USSD code works for all networks….. It might be a network failure, try a few minutes later.

So you have lost your NIN slip,can one I gain another slip?

 

Sorry about the loss of your NIN slip. Please visit any bank around you, pay a commemorative of N500 through REMITA, give your REMITA Teller to any ERC near you and request for a NIN slip print.

And will my line be blocked if my NIN isn’t captured?

According to the NCC directive, telecom subscribers yet to register for NIN and those yet to link their NIN to their lines will be dissociated if not done within the quested period.

And how will I know if my number is formerly streamlined with my NIN?

Once you have submitted your NIN, MTN will shoot an evidence communication of the status of your submission.

So my SIM was registered with my Voter’s card, and not my National ID card. Am I going to be affected?

Anyhow of your SIM Registration which you did in the history, this directive is to all citizens and legal residents of Nigeria who are telecoms subscribers. So your NIN must be paired with your SIM Registration details, within the question period and you can register at the nearest MTN registration center  or any NIMC registration center

So how do I get notified when my NIN is ready after registration?

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) will communicate this to you after your registration.

So you can see your NIN on your phone after dialing *346# Will my line still be blocked?

Your line will only be blocked if you don’t link your recaptured NIN with your registered MTN number. And once you confirm your NIN by dialing *346#, and linking *785* Your 11 number NIN# from the phone number you wish to link. And you can also download MyMTN App and follow the NIN banner to submit your NIN details in the app. And kindly note that the NIN you submit to us is subject to further verification by NIMC.

All Guests are obliged to submit their NIN to their service provider; And once the NIN you have submitted has been vindicated successfully with NIMC, your vindicated NIN will be linked with your SIM enrollment.

And according to the NCC directive, the figures of guests who are yet to register for NIN will be dissociated if not linked to a NIN by the end of the quested period.
