The University of Abuja is a public institution funded by the government located in the Nigerian capital, Abuja.
It was established in January 1988 as a dual-mode university with the mandate to run conventional and distance learning programmes though academic work in the University began in 1990 with the matriculation of its pioneer students.
It is the only Federal University in the heart (FCT) of Nigeria, tagged the University for National Unity!
The University started with three colleges namely: College of Arts and Education; College of Law, Management and Social Sciences; and College of Science and Agriculture.

Direct Entry(DE) admission seekers must satisfy the A’ level requirements with at least two (2) ‘A’ Level passes or equivalent in addition to five (5) credit passes in other subjects including English Language and Mathematics at the ordinary level of either of the following bodies: WAEC, NECO, GCE, NABTEB and Grade II.

Located in Karu, specifically at Abuja-Keffi Road, 961105, New Karu, 25 kilometers from the Federal Capital city of Nigeria Abuja, the school was established in 2005 by the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) as a Conventional University.
