Although there are several institutions in Nigeria, some of these institutions’ standards of teaching, as well as the provision of infrastructure and provision of amenities, have made their title of ‘an educational institution’ to be questioned. While some of these universities are public, some of them also belong to private owners.

In this list, we will be discussing the worst universities in Nigeria according to ratings in terms of amenities amongst others, and the ratings from NUC(National University Commission). NUC has rated them as the worst universities that Nigeria has so you might want to be extra careful and weigh your decisions when applying for a course in any of the institutions.

Note, National University Commission is the board in Nigeria responsible for institutions as well as ensuring everything is worth it just like NAFDAC for food and drugs.

1.Christopher University

Christopher University is a private institution that is situated in Ogun State, Mowe precisely. The University was accredited by the National University Commission (NUC) and was licensed on the 5th of March, 2015, this was after it was officially approved by the Federal Government on the 25th of February, 2015.

The institution offers over thirteen courses viz: Mass Communication, English, Computer Science, Banking and Finance, Business Administration, Economics, History and Diplomatic Studies, Accounting, International Relations, Information Science and Media Studies, Political Science, Psychology and Literature in English.

2.Clifford University

Clifford University is a Christian privately owned institution that was established by the Seventh Day Adventist Church in 2013, this was after the land was returned to the Seventh Day Adventist church as the land was seized by the Federal Government after the country’s civil war that occurred in 1967 to 1970.

Clifford University is located in Ihie, Abia State. Nigeria. The university became Government approved in 2016, three years after its creation. The Seventh Day Adventist education system that manages this institution is the second-largest Christian education system globally.

3.Dominican University

Dominican University is a private institution that is located in Oyo, Ibadan. It was established in 2016, making it just five years of existence.

The institution is affiliated with the Christian Catholic religion. DU also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including standard sports facilities including the field, a well-equipped library, conducive accommodation and administrative services to aid quality learning amongst students.

4.Eastern Palm University

Eastern Palm University is a public institution that was founded in 2016 and was federally approved in 2017 by the former Executive Governor of Imo State;  Rochas Okorocha.

At the time, it increased the number of state-owned universities to 42 and also increased the number of universities present at that time to 143.

Since it is a new school, it does not have a large student population yet. The institution is interconnected with the Christian- Catholic religion.

9.Skyline University

Skyline University is a private university that is located in Kano, Kano State, Nigeria in the year 2018. At its time of inception, it became the first private university to be established in Kano.

It was also the second privately-owned institution located in the North-Western part of Nigeria.

Conclusion

Although listed as the worst universities according to the NUC (National Universities Commission), a common factor amongst these universities is the little time frame of existence.

The universities are still new and not fully developed but with time, we believe these universities would be regarded as top-notch as they would have a lot to offer when they are fully developed.
