My Ph.D. degree is now official!! I was thinking of writing something on my LinkedIn. Every time I was drafting about my Ph.D. journey, it was looking empty for me! Then I realized, I was missing a critical factor. Without my wife Farhana Afroz and my family, my story is incomplete. This is our journey…..

2006: We started our undergraduate studies in the Biotechnology & Genetic Engineering Discipline, Khulna University, Khulna, Bangladesh
2010: Graduated together
2010: I joined a pharmaceutical industry
2011: We got married (Alhamdullilah!)
2015: We were blessed with a baby girl (Alhamdullilah!!)
2017: I started my Ph.D. life in Japan. Life was painful without my wife and daughter. They could not join me there. It stressed out me a lot. I started applying to other universities.
2018: Farhana started her Ph.D. with a RA position in the Department of Biology, Texas Tech University. She went there with our kid.
2018: I started my Ph.D. with a scholarship and a TA position in the Department of Nutritional Sciences, Texas Tech University
2020: Pandemic appeared! We both completed our Ph.D. qualifying exam.
2021: We were blessed with our second baby girl (Alhamdullilah!!!!)
2022: We both successfully defended our dissertation and received our Ph.D. degree officially!

Yes, it was a long journey! With two kids, it was a difficult job for us to complete our Ph.D. on time. We supported each other and organized our time accordingly. This incredible journey wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our parents, Ph.D. supervisors, lab members, financial support from our departments and Texas Tech Graduate School, the Bangladesh government’s support, and support from our teachers, friends, and seniors of Khulna University and Taxes Tech University.

Above all, we are grateful to almighty Allah for everything!
