The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA)

The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) Kaduna, is one of the first of two Military Universities in Nigeria. Nigerian Army University established in 2018 in Biu, Borno State is the other military university though it does not offer military training.

The duration of training at the Nigerian Defence Academy is 5 years for Army cadets (4 years Academic + 1 year Military). And it is 4 years for Navy and Air force cadets. Then after which they proceed to Nigerian Naval College, Onne, Port Harcourt

Also, they proceed to 301 Flying Training School (301FTS), Kaduna for 1-year training at their respective services.

Nigeria Defence Academy 72nd Regular Course Application Requirements

Candidates seeking 72 Regular Course admissions into the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) must:

  1. Be medically and physically fit. And they must be of good moral character.
  2. Also, be single male or female without legal obligation to support any child or other individuals.
  3. Present a Certificate of indigeneship from the state government or local government area.
  4. Also, be at least 17 years old and NOT more than 21 years old as at August 2021 in the year of entry into the Academy.
  5. Have a minimum of 5 ordinary level credits at GCE, SSCE (WAEC, NECO, NBAIS and NABTEB) English language, Mathematics and three other subjects which are relevant to the intended programme. And all these at not more than two sittings.
  6. Also, have passed the Unified Tertiary Matriculation examinations (UTME) and attain an acceptable minimum national standard in English language, Mathematics and any other 2 subjects relevant to the proposed course of study as set out by the JAMB Brochure. This is as determined by JAMB annual policy meeting.
  7. Also, not be less than 1.68 meters tall for male and 1.65 meters for female.
  8. French and Arabic, Madarin language is an added advantage.

Candidates are to note the following:

  1. Application forms submitted without ordinary level results will NOT be accepted.
  2. Also, candidates awaiting results are not qualified.
  3. Additionally, only ordinary level examination results of NOT more than 5 years old from the date of examination will be accepted.
  4. Also, admission into the Academy is for both male and female Nigerians only.

How to Apply for Nigeria Defence Academy on the Application Portal

Candidates should log on to the application portal Select “Purchase Access Code” and fill in their details. This is to pay for their application via REMITA.
However, this is after first obtaining their ORDER ID and REMITA Retrieval Reference (RRR) Code in the sum of N3,500.00 only. Also, please note that only payment against RRR Codes generated via the application portal would be accepted.
Applicants applying for admission into NDA must also apply to the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB). And he or she must select NDA as first choice institution.
Also, such applicants are expected to sit for the JAMB Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME).

Submission of Applications

Applications forms are to be submitted together with the scanned SSCE results online. However, on submission of the online application, candidates are to download an Acknowledgement Form.

Nigeria Defence Academy Screening Test Requirements

As required, the management of NDA will hold or conduct a pre entry examination usually called aptitude tests (Post-UTME screening). And items to bring along during the screening exercise are:

  1. Your acknowledgement slip.
  2. Also, Screening Test Admission Card.
  3. Furthermore, JAMB result slips.
  4. Additionally, TWO (2) postcard sized (3.5 x 5 inches) photographs.

However, on your passport photograph, take time to write down your Name, Exam number, State, Exam Centre, Course of study and Signature at the back.
