Nigerian lady wins 3 PHD Scholarships-BRILLIANCE! It’s a good news for us to know that a Nigerian female educationist identified as MARY KENNETH has create a record for herself, as well makes the nation proud of her by graduating as a Computer Scientist with over 96% grade and as such earning 3 good Scholarships in the United Kingdom (UK) to undergo her PHD programme.
This is indeed awesome and I believe alot of you out here are inspired by this and therefore wishing to hear her story on how she get to this level.
Mary kenneth is a Nigerian student who was studying at the Federal University Lafia, North Central, Nigeria where she bagged her Bachelor’s degree in Computer science with first class. Not minding the saying that “Schooling is scam in Nigeria”, the brilliant young lady took a great step by obtaining the Master’s Programme form of the prestigious Federal University of Technology, Minna, Northern Nigeria, and proceeded to undergoing her master’s studies there.
All her effort wasn’t in vain as Mary obtained a Distinction Master’s Degree in Computer Science, scoring 4.81 out of the maximum 5.00 grade points.
Two years after mary bags her Master’s Degree, she made a mind blowing announcement that she has been selected for three PhD Scholarships award outside the country.
Celebrating her success on her LinkedIn profile, Mary acknowledged that she applied for many scholarships and got many rejections before finally winning scholarships to the United Kingdom.
She wrote;
“With a heart full of joy and thanks, I am glad to announce that I have got three fully funded scholarships, two to the UK and one to Taiwan, for my PhD studies,”
Mary expressed great satisfaction that the two scholarships she got from the United Kingdom came from the same school which has been ranked the 7th best school in the world and the 3rd in the UK. The School’s is; The Imperial College London, England.
The young lady was offered the Deepmind scholarship and the Doctoral Teaching Scholarship to enrol for her Doctorate Degree (PhD) in Computer Science at the Imperial College London.
Some days after her Scholarships award to study in the United Kingdom, mary was again awarded the TIGP Rising Star scholarship to study in Taiwan. At this point, she was left to make her choice of preference out of the three scholarships she luckily gets awarded to after facing 9 rejections.
In her own opinion, she said;
“However, the doctoral teaching scholarship looked more favourable to me, so I chose it and I had to reject the other two sadly,”
Mary went further to expressing her gratitude to everyone who contributed in one way or the other to her success today, including her friends and family.
She stated that out of all the scholarships and schools she applied to, she got rejected by 9, got no response from 2, and got one admission with no funding. But miraculously, Two weeks after the trials, received not one, but three Scholarships. “Two weeks after all of this rejection, I received not one, but three yeses,” she added.
