Every year, the Nigerian Police Service conducts a recruitment drive to find capable people who are interested in joining the force. Applying to become a member of the Nigerian Police Force can be done in a variety of different ways. There are several entry points.
It is either via the Nigerian Police Academy, through the Cadet ASP programme, or through the regular police recruitment that you submit your application.
Those individuals who wish to join the Nigerian Police Force as soon as they have completed their training are the target audience for the Nigerian Police Academy. Students must spend a total of five years learning at the Academy before they can graduate.
Admission Requirements for the Nigerian Police Academy
The entry requirements are as follows:
- Applicants for admission to the academy must be Nigerian citizens.
- You must be between the ages of 17 and 22.
- Males must be at least 1.67 metres (5 feet 6 inches) tall, while females must be at least 1.62 metres (5 feet 4 inches). Furthermore, male applicants must have an enlarged chest size of at least 86 cm (34 inches).
- All candidates must be free of any physical or mental deformity.
- Applicants must have acquired a minimum of SIX (6) credits at the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) administered by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), the National Examinations Council (NECO), or the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) in not more than two sittings, including a credit pass in English Language and Mathematics, as well as subjects relevant to the candidate’s chosen course of study at the Academy.
- Candidates must also do well in both the written exam and the interview, as well as pass physical and psychological fitness exams.
Only those who pass the selection exam will be called to the Nigeria Police Academy Selection Board Interview.
