The University of Toronto is currently awarding International students to study and earn degrees in their choice of study. The public university is located in Ontario, Canada, around the famous Queen’s Park. It comprises eleven colleges with its main campus at St. George. Undergraduate Scholarships
Scholarships at the University of Toronto are often awarded under the Admissions or in-course programs for a bachelor’s degree while Post-graduate scholarships are faculty-based or department-based.
Lester B. Pearson International Students Scholarships
This scholarship provides academic excellent students an opportunity to study at the university to recognize these students as they demonstrate exceptional leadership skills. Awarded yearly, this scholarship covers tuition, books, and other fees for the period of study.
University of Toronto international Scholar Award
This scholarship is awarded to a select few from the Faculties of Arts and Science according to merit. The value of this scholarship is up to 440,000 in their first year which is also renewable. To be eligible for this scholarship as an international student, one must have completed a secondary school program and have a high academic record that qualifies them into the faculty of Arts and Science and must be fully registered to complete a course by the end of the fall/winter.
Graduate Scholarships
Schmidt Science Fellows Award
This fellowship is awarded the aim of developing the next generation of scientists, brewing leadership and discipline into them. Initiated by the Schmidt Futures and funded by Eric and Wendy Schmidt Strategic fund, this fellowship engages and relates with political, scientific, business, and social thinkers in the bid to produce new ideas which can solve problems. Focused on society changes like disease, food, insecurity, and population, the fellows recognize draw insights and apply new techniques in solving eminent problems as such. With that in mind, fellows receive $100,000 yearly for up to two years to support their active engagement during the program.
Pierre Elliot Trudeau Foundation Doctoral Scholarships
This scholarship is awarded to Ph.D. students designed to equip and train outstanding students or candidates with special skills for translation, taking their ideas and turning them into actions to better the community and society around them. This scholarship offers up to $ 40,000 per year for about three years which covers tuition and living expenses. Some of its other benefits are; a year stipend of $10,000 for research and allowance, membership into communities and fellowships, mentorship programs, and training. To be eligible, applicants should be first to a third-year doctoral students specializing in either social science or humanities field.
Banting Postdoctoral fellowships
Aimed at retaining national and international talents, this fellowship is awarded to students who contribute to the economy of Canada through research-based careers. Every year, a total of 70 fellowships are awarded a stipend of 70,000 CAD which is distributed among three research agencies; the Canadian Institute of Health Research, Natural Science and Engineering Research Council, and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council.
This scholarship runs for two years with a maximum activity of 140 until the final year and is offered by Government bodies. To be eligible, candidates or applicants must have fulfilled all degree requirements for a Ph.D. or its equivalent.
