The TechGirls program is to be funded by the Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Through educational and cultural exchanges that add to the development of peaceful relations between the people of the United States and the people of other countries, the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) aims to improve mutual understanding between the people of the United
States and those of other countries.
The program is offered by Legacy International and it offers the following coverage: The cost of your air travel from home country to the United States will be covered, TechGirls Leadership Program will see for all accommodations costs as well, Each participant is provided with three (3) meals per day, The program sees for all local transportation costs, Participants have the opportunity to partake in legacy international cultural events, Participants are to be covered under an emergency health insurance program.
TechGirls offers first-hand access and opportunities to the next generation of women leaders to Improve their skills and pursue their dreams In science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The TechGirls program has trained and mentored up to 162 teenage girls in Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestinian Territories, Tunisia, and in Yemen since the year 2012.
During the course of this program, participants will spend up to three weeks in the
United States. During the TechGirls program, students participate in various interactive technology and computer camps, you will work shadow at tech companies and you will participate in community service programs.
The TechGirls program will cover skills-development workshops, it includes interactions with America’s most innovative technologists, as well as up to 50 hours of study at a Tech Camp with the host’s partners at the Center for Enhancement in Engineering Diversity sited at Virginia Tech.
