The University of Queensland Scholarship, popularly referred to as the Australia Master of Quantum Technology Scholarship, is currently ongoing and open to international students from around the world. The scholarship is partially funded to allow Master’s level programs in the field of quantum technologies.

Scholarship Awards

The University of Queensland Scholarship [UQ Scholarships] is a fundraising campaign, which aims to raise money for scholarships in the Faculty of Business. The scholarships are awarded to students who are undertaking the UQ Diploma or the Graduate Certificate in Management.

Each scholarship comes with a fee waiver for full-time study at UQ over two years ($5000 per year). The student must commit to studying full-time at UQ. If this isn’t possible, the student can request that the scholarship be split between an undergraduate and a postgraduate course.

The Quantum Technology Scholarship is available to students commencing a full-time degree at The University of Queensland. This scholarship provides a non-renewable fee waiver for master’s degree study at UQ over two years [$20,000] and is available to applicants from all countries.

The Quantum Technology Summer School (QTSS) was held for the first time this year on the 7th and 8th of December in Brisbane, Australia.

The goal of the summer school is to provide an introduction to quantum mechanics and quantum technologies for undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as professionals from various fields in science or engineering who are interested in learning about quantum technologies.

The QTSS scholarships cover all accommodation, meals, and travel costs, as well as an $800 refundable deposit on a laptop computer.

The QTSS is a non-residential program and participants are expected to arrive in Brisbane. The summer school will begin at 9:00 am on Monday 7th of December and end at 5:00 pm Friday 10th of December.

Scholarships will be awarded to students from any country – fully funded residential programs are available for students wishing to join the University of Queensland (UQ) Quantum Technology Summer School (QTSS) and Undergraduate Research Program (URP).

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible, the following criteria must be met:

  • Successful completion of secondary school education, at least year 10 and with a minimum of 25% grades in science subjects;
  • High level of achievement in physics (e.g. Excellent A in year 11 Physics) and an ACT score equating to the Australian Year 12 equivalent;
  • Commitment to research as part of your undergraduate study at the University of Queensland if eligible for the Quantum Technology Scholarship.

The eligibility criteria are set by The University Of Queensland, not the UQ International Student Services Centre

The UQ International Student Services Centre is a one-stop shop for international students at UQ. I.S.S.C ensures that all international students are registered, funded, and supported throughout their time in Brisbane or as they move from semester to semester, between studying at UQ and their home countries.

Responsibilities of the International Student services center

The main functions of the International Student Service Centre are:

  • The coordination of all financial aid, scholarships, and bursaries available to international students;
  • The identification of student’s needs and the allocation of student scholarships;
  • The support provided by I.S.S., regarding matters of accommodation, transportation, and health care;
  • The provision of information on the student’s host institution, including the enrolment and degree requirements;
  • The coordination of student matters with other I.S.S.C services and departments;
  • The coordination of students’ access to UQ facilities, including access to e-learning, library resources, and technical support;
  • The supervision and administration of student’s enrolment in courses at UQ;
  • The coordination of student enrollments at UQ.

The documents needed to apply for the University of Queensland quantum technology scholarship are as follows:

  • Letter of intent
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Research proposal
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Evidence of academic excellence
  • Evidence of leadership experience or potential and a statement on how you would use the scholarship to advance your career.
  • Applicants have to be international students.

The Scholarship also requires a visit to UQ or Brisbane, where successful applicants will undertake a one-week Research Training Program and attend a dinner.

The Australian Government will contribute $100,000 annually over four years for this program.

In addition to the above, the Queensland Government has contributed $150,000 per annum for two years for Quantum Leap Scholarship. The Queensland contribution is contingent on the contribution from the Commonwealth and UQ. The Quantum Leap Office administers both scholarships.
