Winneba’s University College of Education consolidated seven diploma-granting institutions from around the state into a single school. Advanced Teacher Training College, Specialist Training College, and National Academy of Music in Winneba; School of Ghana Languages in Ajumako; Akwapim-College Mampong of Special Education in Mampong; Kumasi’s Advanced Technical Training College; and Andrews Agricultural Training College in Mampong-St. Ashanti. Valley View University

Valley View University was formed in 1979 by the West African Union Mission of Seventh-day Adventists. It was integrated into the Adventist University system in 1997 by the West-Central Africa Division (WAD), now the West Central African Division of Seventh-day Adventists, with headquarters in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. The Ghana Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists oversees the university locally (founded in 2000).

The Adventist Missionary College, which was created in Bekwai-Ashanti, was the first name of the university (AMC). It was transferred to Adenta, near Accra, in 1983. It operated in leased premises until 1989 when it relocated to its site near Oyibi (kilometer 31 on the Accra-Dodowa Road). The new name was Valley View College.
