List of Universities in Ogun State – Ogun State is one of the states in Nigeria that is blessed with a lot of academic institutions including tertiary institutions both federal and private.
It is indeed a state blessed with a lot of academic institutes. Ogun State is located in the South west of Nigeria. The state was created on February 3, 1976. The capital of Ogun State is Abeokuta.
Ogun state is also known or referred to as the Gateway to Nigeria. In addition to having a lot of academic institutions, the State is also blessed with a lot of industrial estates and manufacturing companies making it one of the most productive states in Nigeria.
They are also the major producer of the Nigerian delicacy; Ofada Rice. On the 29th of May 2019, the current governor, Dapo Abiodun was elected as the governor of Ogun State, making him the fifth governor of the state.

1.Babcock University
Babcock University is a private institution in Ilisan Remo, Ogun State that was established in 1959. The institution is a private institution co owned by the Seventh Day Adventist church.
David C. Babcock was an American missionary who was involved in the creation of the Seventh Day Adventist church hence the institution was named after him.
On April 20 1999, the institution was inaugurated by the government. The institution currently has eight schools in addition to two more colleges namely:
- School of Science & Technology
- School of Social Sciences.

- School of Computing & Engineering Sciences. The Department under this school includes but is not limited to software engineering, computer science, etc.

2.Covenant University
Covenant University is yet another private university in Ogun State. Affiliated to Living Faith Worldwide, the institution was created by Bishop Oyedepo on October 21, 2002.
Covenant University, also known as CH has it on record of currently being the second best university in Nigeria. It also emerged as the first privately owned Nigerian university to make the ranking of top 401 to 500 best universities in the world.
Ever since the university has been created, it has continued to make a mark.

3.McPherson University, Seriki Sotayo
McPherson University which was initially known as LIFE University is another private institution in Nigeria that was established in 2012 by the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria.
The institution is located in Abeokuta, Seriki Sotayo, Ogun State. The University has four colleges viz College of Natural and Applied Sciences, College of Social and Management Science as well as the College of Humanities with a total of 23 courses under them while awarding post graduate degrees in some of the courses too.

4.Chrisland University, Abeokuta
It is another private institution located in Abeokuta. Unlike most of the other private institutions, Chrisland University is not affiliated to any religious body; neither Islamic or Christianity but independent. The aim of the institution is to provide quality education to students.
Although it is a private school, the entry criteria is quite high hence making the school highly competitive to enter.
However, with proper knowledge and findings, it will be far easier to get into the institution. The colleges in the institution include college of art, college of management and social science, college of science and technology.
Under the colleges, there are 14 courses of study which includes but not limited to Physics, Computer Science, and Psychology amongst others.
5.Mountain Top University, Lagos Ibadan Expressway
Mountain Top University is another private Christian university in Makobi Oba, Ogun State which was founded in the year 2005 by the founder of Mountain and Fire Ministries Worldwide, Dr. D.K Olukoya.

6.Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta
Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta popularly referred to as FUNAAB is a federal owned institution located in the capital of Ogun State, Abeokuta.
On January 1 1988, this university came into creation. In October 1988, the institution started off with only five colleges namely;
College of Animal Science and Livestock Production
College of Agricultural Management, Rural development and Communication Studies now changed to College of Agriculture Management and Rural Development.
College of Natural Sciences which was later divided into two colleges; College of Physical Sciences and College of Biological Sciences.
College of Environmental Resources Management

7.Crawford University, Igbesa
Yet another Christian institution in Ogun State, Crawford University is owned by the Apostolic Faith Mission. It was established in 2005 by the third Overseer of the church who was the church leader at that time; Rev Paul Akazue.
The university has three colleges namely College of Natural and Applied Sciences, College of Business and Social Sciences and College of Arts and Communication Science.

8.Bells University of Technology, Ota
Bells University of Technology also referred to as BUT or BellTech is a private university of technology and the first private University of Technology in Nigeria.
It was founded in 2004 by the Bells Educational Foundation. The Bells Educational Foundation is an educational foundation owned by Olusegun Obasanjo, one of the former presidents of Nigeria.
The college has five colleges; College of Natural and Applied Science, College of Engineering and environmental sciences, College of food science, college of information and communication technology and college of management science.

9.Hallmark university, Ijebu Itele
Hallmark University is a private university that was founded by the Vivian Fowler Trust foundation. Hallmark University was founded in 2015 but commenced academic activities on the 1st of March, 2016.
The University is not affiliated to any religious bodies and as such, promotes cultural and religious diversity. The university currently offers courses in the college of sciences, social sciences and applied sciences with the goal of future expansion to courses like Medicine, e.t.c.
