Universities That Write Post-UTME in Nigeria
History of Post-UTME
Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) was created in 1978 with the sole responsibility of conducting placement exams for students into higher institution of learning. But the poor performance of university undergraduates in recent years has caused the national exam body, JAMB to face a lot of criticism. Most tertiary institutions claimed that the exam board has deteriorated both in standard and integrity. In 2005, The federal government stepped in to save the situation by empowering universities to conduct screening for their prospective candidates. This new development was well-embraced by both the universities and the students. The screening exercise is what is called Post-UTME.
What you should know about Post-UTME
This is a screening exam conducted by the university for its prospective students. Apart from the regular JAMB cut –off mark, each tertiary institution has its own cut-off mark for its prospective students. Schools achieve this cut-off mark for each of its department by calculating both the UTME Score and Post-UTME score and finding the aggregate score. Cut-off marks are then fixed from the aggregate scores.
