University of Ibadan is a public research university established in 1948. The University is located in Ibadan, South-west, Nigeria. It is the first university in Nigeria. Currently the academic programs in the university are run in 16 faculties namely: Science, Arts, Clinical Sciences, Basic Medical Sciences, Agriculture, Social Sciences, Education, Veterinary Science, Public Health, Dentistry, Law, Technology, Pharmacy, Economics, Renewable Natural Resources and Environmental Design and Management.
The school also runs a college of medicine which comprises four faculties; Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Sciences, Public Health and Dentistry. The school also run postgraduate programs which are well recognized both nationally and internationally.

Covenant University was established as a private Christian University in 2002. It is located at Ota, South West, Nigeria.
