Applicants must be enrolled at a home institution of the American Association of Universities (AAU) to be eligible. In addition, students will not be eligible for renewal if they have received any U.S. Federal or state grant funds or loan funds before or during the application period.

 This scholarship is a renewable award of $1,000 per academic year that may be awarded to international students who meet the criteria on the UMUS website. The selection process is very competitive and all information is reviewed. The scholarship is based on academic achievement and proven commitment to academics and a personal statement; only 8% percent of applicants are selected.

The University of Minnesota’s Undergraduate Scholarship (UMUS) program provides financial aid to undergraduate students based on academic merit, demonstrated need, and community service. The UMUS program is supported by a voluntary contribution by students, parents, and alumni. The scholarship amount varies annually and must be applied for each academic year through the UMS website.
